The Super Smash Bros. series has nearly 5,000 possible matchups... and some of them are absolutely brutal.

After breaking down Melee’s most unfair matchup, I wanted to look at the rest of the series. From Marth’s infamous grab infinite on Ness in Brawl, to Smash 4 Mario dismantling Pikachu, to Villager completely invalidating Piranha Plant in Ultimate, these are some of the most lopsided and structurally unfair matchups in Smash history.

With massive rosters and wildly different character mechanics, balancing every interaction is nearly impossible. When one character removes another’s win condition entirely, the results can get… cursed.
