GJALLARHORN
Through Nifelheim’s eternal night
A trek of fear and dread
The keeper of the well to find
The wanderer walks ahead

Dressed in grey he struggles on
Through ice and piercing wind
His weary legs drag along
For the price at journey’s end

By the root of Yggdrasil
Sits the watcher of the well
Oden offers his appeal
But the man is not compelled

Fill the Gjallarhorn
With water from the pool
Let me drain it down
And wisdom fill my soul

The guardian of memories
Gave his head one shake
Seldom does a silent man
Make any grave mistakes

Mimr’s face was hard and stern
He would not be swayed
He didn’t move, he didn’t turn
And Oden felt dismayed

”Just one drink from your well,
One drink and I’ll be wise.
Ask of me what you will.
There must be a price!”

Fill the Gjallarhorn
With water from the pool
Let me drain it down
And wisdom fill my soul

Oden stared into Mimr’s eyes
His face could not be read
Finally he broke a smile
And then Mimr said

”For a drink from my well
Your eye is my price.”
Oden showed a steady hand
Then calmly he said
"Give me a knife.”

Lift the Gjallarhorn
Drink and you’ll be wise
Wisdom comes to those
Who will sacrifice
